Sea urchin festival returns to Ericeira for the 7th edition

Between last Friday, March 10, and March 19, everyone has the opportunity to taste the delicacies of our coast at the 7th edition of the International Sea Urchin Festival.

This initiative returned to Ericeira with a program marked by gastronomy and science, making known this typical product and all its potential, through a gastronomic exhibition, showcookings, a seafood court and technical workshops.

This is an opportunity to discover the many ways of preparing sea urchins, participating in the gastronomic show that takes place in 25 participating restaurants. There’s also the chance to taste this delicacy at the seafood court, operating at the Ericeira Municipal Market between 12 pm and 19 pm, which happened on March 10, 11 and 12, and keeps going on 17, 18 and 19.

As from now, on the 18th and the 19th, also at the Ericeira Municipal Market, everyone will be able to attend the showcooking sessions and the display of endogenous products, craft beers and wines from the region – chefs António Muiños Insua, Athanasios Kargatzidis, Flávio Santos, Tony Salgado, Rafael Duarte, Valéria Olivari, Paulo Morais, Bertílio Gomes, Francisco Silva, Arménio Marques and also Nuno Nobre will be present.

The program also includes, on the 18th, the technical workshops “Ouriço-do-Mar: Ouriceira 23” and “Ouriço-do-Mar: Ecology in the Square”, promoted by MARE – Centro de Ciências do Mar e do Ambiente, taking place at Ericeira Municipal Market from 10 am to 12 pm.
