The eleventh edition of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival (PSFF) started yesterday in Ericeira, but one of the highlights of this cinematographic event took place about a week before the opening day.
The European premiere of the film “The Yin & Yang of Gerry Lopez” brought to Ribeira d’Ilhas beach (symbolically, the ‘visiting room’ of national surfing) on the 14th of July two major icons of Surfing and Skating, globally.

Having Gerry “Mr. Pipeline” Lopez (protagonist of the documentary and unique figure in the History of Wave Runners) and Stacy Peralta (director of this and other works in the Seventh Art, some of them awarded, as well as a member of the seminal Z-Boys and founder of Powell Peralta) to a press conference and subsequent film screening – which will close the festival on July 31 – was a great honor for all of those present that afternoon.
In the featured image of this article, in addition to Stacy Peralta (with a black t-shirt) and Gerry Lopez (with a yellow t-shirt and blue cap), there are Susana Andrade – PSFF founder and organiser –, Pedro Carmo Silva (Mafra Town Hall’s Alderman), João de Macedo – big wave surfer and member of the Save the Waves Coalition – and also the son of the Mafra representant.
