Winter on the official calendar has been over for more than a month now, but in “surfistic” terms this season lasts as long as significant ground swells happen or are expected to deliver.
And the last winter in Ericeira was exceptional – the good conditions of the last months of 2021 continued through the current year, with January marked by the practically uninterrupted East wind (offshore) and a series of memorable days (some of them at the limit of height that the best local spots can stand, like the one in this image) in the following months.
Now, with Summer almost around the corner (it’s almost unbelievable how quickly it has passed, but it starts on June 21st), the sea is starting to take a vacation and the North wind is imposing itself, as is traditional.
