Starting in April, AZUL – Ericeira Mag will begin a partnership with Bang Venue in Torres Vedras, presenting concerts and clubbing once a month!
Bang Venue, the best cultural events venue in the Western region, has hosted major (inter)national names such as Nick Oliveri (founder of Queens of the Stone Age), B Fachada, Mão Morta, Linda Martini, Allen Halloween and Expresso Transatlântico, as well as emerging music talents, between concerts and clubbing.
those interested can travel back and forth on a shuttle from Ericeira to Bang Venue
The headline name for the debut of this partnership is King Bigs, one of the most promising rappers and composers to emerge in the Portuguese-language Hip Hop scene in recent years. ‘Bigavelski’ stands out for its raw yet melodic sound, which serves as a window into the rapper’s particular reality as well as those around him. Born in Monte da Caparica and raised in London, he returned to the streets that saw him grow around 2017 when he began to seriously dedicate himself to music.
In 2018, he released his first single “Tipo de Vida,” which had a tremendous reception, reaching 2 million views on YouTube, followed by “Como é que Tamos!?” with the late Mota Jr, which reached 3 million views, establishing King Bigs as one of the great national promises.
King Bigs continued to release several songs like “Biggie, Biggie, Biggie,” “Juro que não dá,” or “Respeita o Crime,” which became true hits. He has been showing his versatility, combining street rap with extraordinary musicality, as well as ad libs that evoke a humorous side, even when addressing harsh life issues. In 2022, he released “Momma” with Regula, a track that was part of the album “Ouro sobre Azul,” elevating King Bigs’ reputation to new levels of recognition, creating an increasingly high expectation for the release of his first solo album.
After performances at the Nos Alive festival and the Queima Das Fitas in Coimbra, for example, King Bigs is preparing to visit Bang Venue before stepping on other stages from North to South of Portugal, including the Sumol Summer Fest, which until 2022 took place in Ericeira.
Opening this night will be Mex, from Mafra, who will present his first single, “Ela vai Mudar,” along with other songs being prepared for his debut album. Among urban alleys and pulsating beats, determined and carrying the weight of personal experiences, he weaves rhymes like a chronicler of modern life, exploring the complexities of everyday life and the ups and downs of his own journeys. Driven by a deep love for timeless writing, each verse is a window into his soul, revealing not only struggles and triumphs but also the raw essence of humanity, with a beat in the heart and words that echo an unwavering truth.
The Groove Nation Sound collective will take over the clubbing, closing a night that promises to be memorable. Founded in Ericeira in 2023, Groove Nation currently consists of two members – DJ OddKilla and Selecta Dias. Their musical styles make bodies loosen up and sweat, focusing mainly on Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Shatta and Afrobeats.
