If there’s something Ericeira excels in, it’s hospitality, its seaside landscapes, the comfort and the numerous restaurants that make any weekend getaway from the week’s stress an opportunity from heaven to recharge.

That’s why during this month, Forbes, an American publication covering several topics from business and economics to lifestyle, organized on its website a guide titled “Portugal’s Must-Visit Surf Town: Where To Eat And Stay In Ericeira,” creating an itinerary with several establishments where one can eat, sleep, and simply be.

a group of gastronomic experiences to consider when visiting Ericeira

Ann Abel, the article’s author, introduces Ericeira as “the second place to be named a World Surfing Reserve and still the only one in Europe” – currently an inaccuracy, as North Devon, UK, is now the second European World Surfing Reserve. The author also explains that everything is close to Ericeira: “Less than an hour from Lisbon, it has beautiful beaches, windswept cliffs and a charming historic center, plus a vibrant international community.”

This list mentions places to eat and stay, many of which have been part of Ericeira’s landscape for some time and others that have emerged from new concepts, derived “from a growing cadre of global entrepreneurs, plus a casual outpost from a Michelin-star chef.”

Jangada, You and the Sea

Among the establishments Ann Abel recommends trying are restaurants like Jangada and Emme, located in the Immerso hotel. With a kitchen led by Michelin-starred chef Alexandre Silva (from Loco in Lisbon), Emme offers breathtaking views, unique gastronomy and periodic events called Emme on Fire that “gather guests around a bonfire or at long tables to enjoy food cooked over flames or in the wood-fired pizza oven.”

To all those hoping to discover Ericeira and the coastal area in a deeper way, Ann also shared a list of places to spend the night, where comfort is a dream come true.

Two of these hotels already mentioned are You & the Sea and Immerso, the first five-star hotel to open in the outskirts of Ericeira: built on the slopes to provide each of its 37 rooms with immersion in nature and an excellent ocean view, especially at sunset.

there’s always something new to discover in this (not so) small coastal village

You and the Sea is a four-star hotel that captivates every visitor with simplicity: “a collection of 35 serviced apartments, ranging from one to four bedrooms, with a soothing design with oceanside accents. Both the beach and the historic city center are within walking distance and the all-day restaurant, Jangada, is a good option for those who don’t feel like going out.”

All places mentioned in the list are described from the point of view of Ann Abel, author of the original article, which can be consulted here. Whether you’re new to Ericeira, a frequent visitor or a local, this is proof that there’s always something new to discover in this (not so) small coastal village.
