Recently broadcast on RTP’s Telejornal (the news), it draws attention to the fact that the number of host families for World Youth Day is far below the desired level.

“The church said once again that receiving young foreigners is a unique experience and that there are no security issues.” Even so, the WYD organization would like more families to follow the example of these Jagozes.
Gonçalo Rodrigues, a well-known local musician, mentions they felt that, in addition to welcoming the young people, this moment represents an opportunity for the daughters and the whole family to get in touch with young people from other parts of the world.
Diana and Gonçalo are the parents of four daughters and belong to the Parish of Ericeira, which hopes to welcome 2,500 young people together with the Parish of Carvoeira.
Father Tiago Fonseca recalls that “young people don’t come expecting a palace, they don’t come expecting fantastic conditions. They come expecting to have a floor to lie on and someone to talk to at the end of the day and share the adventures they had in Lisbon and here during World Youth Day.”
