It was on the last weekend of May, at Empa beach, that the third and final stage of Circuito de Bodyboard do Sul (Southern Bodyboard Circuit) took place. This competition served to select the best young bodyboarders for the national finals of the Esperanças National Bodyboarding Circuit.
In this video, recorded by WestWater Photography and WhiteWave Ericeira, and published on the Ericeira Surf Clube’s (ESC) YouTube channel, you can notice all the energy and dedication of the athletes in the run for the podium in the decisive stage.
On the first day, the winners in the competing categories were Afonso Paulino (Sub 16) and Pedro Gonçalves (Sub 18). On the second day, with smaller waves, the finals of the other categories took place, with highlights including the victories of Vicente Campos (Sub 12), João Freitas (Sub 14 – ESC athlete), Francisca Ribeiro (Sub 14 Fem) and Filipa Freitas (Sub 18 Fem).
