Turismo de Portugal recently published on its Business portal the Guide for Management of Beaches with Surfing Activities.
This document, which resulted from the Interministerial Working Group for Monitoring of Tourist Animation, aims to standardize the procedures, rules and licensing of Surf operators in Portugal, implementing one of the most relevant projects in this field.
Afonso Teixeira: this document gives greater credibility and security for application by Municipalities and Captaincies
After numerous meetings between Turismo de Portugal, the Association of Surf Schools of Portugal (AESP), APECATE and other entities over the last few years, the Interministerial Working Group for the Monitoring of Tourist Entertainment, formalized in July 2020, included in its priorities the issue of management and regulation of Surf Schools. In this way, it was finally possible to gather all the entities with competences in the management and definition of rules for the use of the beaches.
One of the goals of this Group, made up of several public entities and with the participation of sectoral associations, was the creation of a Guide for application by Municipalities and Captaincies that would meet the needs of operators and guarantee the safety of all Beach goers.
