Challenger Series circuit passes through Ericeira in October

The calendar for the 2023 season of the Challenger Series Circuit, the second division of world surfing – which decides the accesses to the 2024 world circuit – was recently announced.

Ericeira will once again be present and will receive candidates at the EDP Vissla Pro Ericeira, the fifth and penultimate stage of the season, scheduled between the 1st and 8th of October.

A total of six stages is scheduled in the calendar:

  • Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro Presented by GWM, in Queensland, Australia, from May 6th to 13th;
  • GWM Sydney Surf Pro Presented by Bonsoy, in New South Wales, Australia, from May 17th to 24th;
  • Ballito Pro Presented by O’Neill, in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, from 2 to 9 July;
  • US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico, in Huntington Beach, United States, from July 29th to August 6th;
  • EDP Vissla Pro Ericeira Presented by Estrella Galicia, in Ericeira, from October 1st to 8th;
  • Corona Saquarema Pro, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from October 14th to 21st

This year, unlike previous seasons, the Challenger Series circuit will have one less stage, with the departure of the usual passage through Haleiwa, Hawaii.
