In anticipation of the eleventh edition of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival (PSFF), Ribeira d’Ilhas hosted the European premiere of the film “The Yin & Yang of Gerry Lopez”, a documentary by director Stacy Peralta that tells the life story of this surf icon and explains its philosophy on and off the water.
Gerry Lopez earned the nickname “Mr. Pipeline” after having mastered one of the best and most dangerous waves in the world, in the 70’s. It’s feats like this and the ability to focus that the athlete has shown throughout his career that inspired Stacy Peralta to immortalize his legacy.
In the video that AZUL presents this week, you can catch a glimpse of what was a mythical afternoon (and night) in the presence of one of the most relevant surfers in history, in a very inspiring interview, in which several aspects of Gerry Lopez’s career are revealed and also how the idea to create this documentary was born.
