The announcement had already been made in 2016 by the Municipality of Mafra and recently more details about the project prepared for the Ericeira Ecological Park were revealed.

This intervention will take place right in the “heart” of the World Surfing Reserve, next to the seafront of the Empa and Orelheira beaches, extending to the Fort of Mil Regos, in a space that is approximately 16 hectares long.

the park will overlook two world-class waves: Pedra Branca and Reef

The initiative, as advanced by the April Municipal Bulletin, will be guided by the preservation of the natural heritage, providing an attractive space for residents or visitors and valuing the respective vocation for environmental education.

The project foresees the setup of the Interpretative Center for Coastal Systems, which will support the activities developed in the Park, which may receive exhibitions or be the stage for environmental awareness actions.

a place of contemplation for nature lovers

This space will include areas for contemplating the landscape and pedestrian circuits. The reordering of the parking support to the beaches and access to the park is also foreseen, always with an underlying landscape concern, in order to safeguard the native vegetation and the cliffs, contemplating the regeneration of the natural systems, the delimitation of sensitive areas and the control and eradication of invasive and exotic species.
