The Regulation of the Municipal Council for the Management of the World Surfing Reserve of Ericeira came into force on January 4. Regulation No. 7/2017 of the Municipality of Mafra creates the Municipal Reserve Management Council, an advisory organ, of articulation and cooperation functions of a matter of conservation related to the Reserve’s protected natural landscape.

The Municipal Management Council shall be composed of an Extended Council, an advisory body, and a Restricted Council, which shall be the support body for the planning and monitoring of the Reserve’s situation.

This organ appears as an important step in the ongoing process of municipal classification of the Reserve as Protected Landscape Area of Ericeira.

The region of Ericeira is a national and international reference for the practice of sea sports, taking into account the exceptional quality of its waves, framed by the beauty of its fauna, flora and the surrounding cliffs. This coastal strip gathers, in only 13 kilometers, about 22 waves of international quality, with different levels of exigency and difficulty.
