Hawaiian big wave surfer Garrett McNamara was in Ericeira a month ago surfing the rights of Coxos. At the time, AZUL showed you some stills of that session, courtesy of Nuno Dinis, and pitched the ideia that McNamara was in the village shooting for a promotional web-series for Turismo de Portugal. The ideia crystallised and last Friday the project McNamara Surf Trip was officially presented in Carcavelos and Coxos’ session feature’s the second episode of the series available online.
The series are divided in seven episodes to be published every couple of days since last week. The first chapter explored Portuguese west coast between Nazaré and Peniche. The following episode showed the best waves and sightseeings of Lisbon’s region, including Ericeira. Besides portraying some of the best waves in capital’s area, the episode also hints on the best to live in Lisbon’s streets: it’s pastries and gastronomy; the historical monuments; and the amazing belvederes over the city. All this followed with encounters with the members of some the most renowned musical acts in Portugal: PAUS and Frankie Chávez.
The next webisodes will reveal the aquatic relics of Azores, Porto and Northern Portugal, Madeira, Alentejo and Algarve.
McNamara Surf Trip is a Bro Productions edit for Turismo de Portugal with the mission to internationally promote the best of Portugal’s touristic and surfing spots. The online series are said to be an investment of 200.000 euros.
