The 2nd of June was marked by the official start of the event commemorating the 10th anniversary of Ericeira’s World Surfing Reserve – EWSR. After an inaugural ceremony where several news were revealed, the first of the five Digital Talks that will integrate the “Ericeira WSR+10” project, promoted by Ericeira Surf Clube, took place.
One of the speakers at “The World Surfing Reserve of Ericeira & the Territory” was Juanma Murua, management consultant of cities and territory and responsible for the ongoing study, within the scope of EWSR+10, on the assessment of the impact of the EWSR in the last ten years.
In his presentation on “Vilas Desportivas & Território” (Sports Villas & Territory), Juanma Murua shared a preliminary analysis on the impact of surfing in this territory, as he does not yet have enough data to draw conclusions for his study. Murua explains how the idea of this project came across and how it can prove to be a very useful tool for further assessments of this and other territories. The aim is to assess the impact – in four dimensions: environmental, economic, social and image/identity – of surfing activities (and related) over these ten years.
