Runner-up finish for Ericeira in the National Club Championship

Ericeira Surf Clube (ESC) achieved second place at the National Club Championship 2026, marking a strong performance at one of the most emblematic competitions in Portuguese surfing.

After 15 years, the competition returned as a part of the Caparica Surf Fest at Praia do Paraíso, bringing together 43 athletes from 11 national clubs. The title was ultimately claimed by Clube Quinta dos Lombos.

The event was organized by the Associação de Surf da Costa de Caparica and was characterized by talented athletes, quality conditions and the necessary competitive spirit.

ESC finished with 22.30 points in the final, just behind the club from Carcavelos, with 22.77 points. The small margin underlines the intensity and high performance level displayed by the leading teams as Ericeira secured their runner-up position just a fraction behind the champions. The third place went to ASCC Caparica, with 18.70 points, followed by Surfing Clube de Portugal, with 18.06 points.

Among the athletes representing Ericeira were Felipe Guerra (Master), Lua Escudeiro (Female), Martinho de Barros (Junior) and Henrique Pyrrait (OPEN), with Gabriel Ribeiro as their Coach.

The return of the competition is considered historic. The president of the Portuguese Surfing Federation (Federação Portuguesa de Surf) commented: “Seeing this competition back on the calendar, with this competitive level and this collective spirit, is a source of enormous satisfaction.”
