From 7 to 10 April Ericeira distinguished, in many recipes, the Paracentrotus lividus, the scientific name of sea urchins. It was the second edition of the Urchin Festival, celebrating at the table a real endogenous icon, that has been a part of the daily life of the village since time immemorial, and nowadays is considered a true gastronomic specialty.

This event brought together 12 restaurants that made the best proposals of cooking recipes, some of them created especially for the festival: simply cooked, with risotto or in sushi, and even as dessert. The creativity was shown in more than 15 dishes created to taste the species where – legend has it – the name of Ericeira was inspired, appearing in the village’s coat of arms.

The seafood restaurant Marisqueira Furnas (photo # 1, 8:10), restaurant A Panela (Photo # 5), Ti Matilde (photos # 3, 4 and 7), Funky (photo # 2, 6:09), Caesar, Uni Sushi, Sul, Brisa and Don Carlos were some of the participants who offered the tasting of their choices and whose creativity is highlighted in this selection of images that will make you cry for more.
