The Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ), through the National Plan for Ethics in Sports (PNED), recently certified Ericeira Surf Clube with the Flag of Ethics.

The Flag of Ethics consists on the certification and promotion of ethical values and fair play in Sports, which is a powerful human development tool and a privileged space for the dissemination of ethical values.

For the president of Ericeira Surf Clube, Miguel Barata de Almeida, “since the sporting activity carried out by Ericeira Surf Clube is based on principles of ethics, in defense of the spirit of sport, in true sport or in the integral training of all participants, it makes sense to have in our Plan of Activities, outlined for 2023, that we apply for this certification, undoubtedly one of the most prestigious attributed to Sports Clubs. May this certification motivate other Surfing Clubs to follow this path”.

Ericeira Surf Clube, founded the 1st Surf Training School in Ericeira in 1995, with around 60 students throughout the year. It annually promotes its own Surf and Bodyboard circuit, stages of the Center Surf and South Bodyboard circuits, Final of the Under 18 Surf NC, Austrian National Championship, organized Portuguese Surfing Cups, the 1st Surfing Championship in Afghanistan, National Surf Masters Championship, stages of the National Circuits of Bodyboard Open, Bodyboard Esperanças, Longboard and SUP Wave, events aimed at the community such as Ericeira Paddle Trophy, Boardriders Trophy, Duelo das Gerações, among others.
