The Austrian Surf Federation organised, this past week, its National Surf Championship (Austrian Surfing Champs) in Ericeira, which was chosen for the second consecutive year as the stage for this tournament. After choosing in 2012 the Matadouro and the Sul Beach, these central Europe surfers now had the chance to surf Ribeira d’Ilhas’ waves, in a competition arranged by the Ericeira Surf Club.
The good atmosphere and the consistent waves – about one meter high – despite the northern winds, made this edition a successful one for the strong Austrian community based in Ericeira.
The champions of the four competing categories – Konrad Tretter (Men’s Open), Gerhard Gruber (Longboard), Martin Roll (Masters) and Lisa Veith (Women’s Open) – were awarded in a cerimony that took place by Friday night at Na Onda bar, in Foz do Lizandro Beach.
