With the aging population, one topic is becoming increasingly relevant: integrated long-term and palliative care. These forms of care play a crucial role in promoting the dignity, well-being, and life quality of people with severe illnesses.

To raise public awareness and emphasize the importance of these forms of care, the Institute for European and Atlantic Culture (ICEA) will host a event on April 18 in Ericeira.

highlighting the central role of these forms of care in the health system

The event will feature two healthcare professionals as guest speakers. Dr. Ana Jorge will address the topic “Integrated Continuing Care – a response to the changing paradigm of healthcare,” while Dr. Inês Romero will present “Palliative Care – why so late and for so few?”

The initiative aims to inform the public, clarify doubts, and help to demystify key concepts as well as highlighting the central role of these forms of care in the health system and in supporting families.

All interested individuals are welcome to attend the free event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Auditório Municipal de Santa Marta.

The session, moderated by Victor Ágoas, is also recognized as a short-duration accredited training activity (three hours) for all teaching groups and levels of education.
