Ribeira d’Ilhas is not among the most desirable places to practice Bodyboard, at least nowadays, but it was there that the first events of the national championship of this sport took place in Ericeira.
In the summer of 1987, the beach lineup known for being the “Portuguese surf visiting room” was the stage for the performances of several Portuguese pioneers, some of them from Ericeira, such as Miguel Barata de Almeida, Tiago Pinto, João Santos Barros or Pedro Tapadas.
Other names present in this historic home video shared by Nuno Baptista are Rodrigo Bessone, Miguel Theriaga, Lito Santos, Zézinho, António Fonseca, Miguel Simões, Vasco Mensurado, Dora Gomes, Catarina Rato or Hans Peter Eismann.
