Very recently (just before the Biographical Novel “Paula Rego – A Luz e a Sombra – Uma Forma de Olhar”, published by Relógio d’Água, hit the bookstores), AZUL – Ericeira Mag had the opportunity to interview the author, Cristina Carvalho, at the Ericeira Podcast Lab.
Throughout this juicy exchange of words, many aspects of the book itself are unveiled, and its official release happaned on Dezember 6, at Casa do Comum bookstore in Bairro Alto, Lisbon, with presentation by Ana Sousa Dias.
Inevitably, the focus shifts to Paula Rego, the greatest Portuguese contemporary artist of the 20th and early 21st centuries, who passed away on June 8, 2022. The author and Hugo Rocha Pereira discussed the central theme of the book—the crucial role that Ericeira played in Paula Rego’s Life and Work, a topic extensively covered in AZUL, whether in the painter’s own words, in a interview with Nick Willing (son and author of the documentary “Paula Rego: Histórias e Segredos”) or in other articles from Ericeira Mag.
