MEO Surf League is scheduled from April 9 to April 11 at Ribeira d’Ilhas, with Allianz Ericeira Pro, as it happened last year.
The main surfing competition in Portugal, in which the titles of national champions are defined, will have, as a debut stage in the 2021 season, the renowned “national surfing visiting room” to kick off the race for the succession of Frederico Morais and Teresa Bonvalot, the current champions.
This will be the first of the traditional five stages of the League this year, with the remaining dates (scheduled for Figueira da Foz, Porto, Sintra and Cascais) to be announced soon.
starting the fight for the maximum titles of the Portuguese Surf in Ericeira is always an honor
Liga MEO Surf is the 1st division of this modality, being Surf an outdoor individual modality without physical contact and considered of low risk by the Directorate-General of Health in the current pandemic context.
After being the first, and one of the few surfing circuits to be held in 2020 worldwide, MEO Surf League returns for the 12th edition in the current format. As in the past year, it stands out again as an important agent of the return to normality.
In terms of alternative trophies, MEO Surf League counts on the Allianz Triple Crown that is disputed in the three stages with Allianz naming, the fight for the best maneuver in the Go Chill Expression Session, awarded with € 2,500 annually, the designation of the best local surfers (male and women) with an equal prize between men and women of € 2,000 from the Municipality of Mafra, and also Bom Petisco Girls Score, a first prize exclusively dedicated to women, with € 2,500 per year for the best combined score in the female competition table.
When it comes to television, taking into account the public ban under legal terms, Allianz Ericeira Pro can be followed from home live on Sport TV, as well as in other official media: MEO’s facebook page, channel 810 on MEO, at ligameosurf.pt and via social networks at @ansurfistas.
