It was in a friendly environment between jagozes and visitors that the photographic exhibition “Ericeira World Surfing Reserve” debuted Saturday on Rua Dr. Eduardo Burnay, at the center of the village.

The waves protected by the honour ascribed by Save The Waves Coalition to Ericeira in October 2011 were celebrated by dozens of people delighted by the stills José Guerra, Ricardo Bravo, Luís Bento e André Carvalho.

The festivity started with unveiling of the exhibitors by the Mayor and Vice-Mayor of Mafra, Hélder Sousa Silva and Joaquim Sardinha, respectively, and Sérgio Reis, an Ericeira Surf Clube’s representative. Nuno Vitorino, the President of the Portuguese Surfing Association for the Impaired, was also present for the homage to Europe’s unique World Surfing Reserve.

In his addressing speech, Hélder Sousa Silva congratulated AZUL-Ericeira Mag for putting up the exhibition with Mafra’s City Hall, Ericeira’s Borough and JC Decaux. Mafra’ mayor also shared his perspectives on taking the exhibition throughout the country to promote Ericeira’s aquatic heritage.

The party went on until early evening with a wine tasting, a surf shaping demonstration by Mica Surfboards and the eclectic playlist of DJ Arsénio.

The exhibition marks AZUL-Ericeira Mag’s first anniversary and will be in display until September 21.
