Ericeira will host the 2016 Surf Summit, joining about 200 technology leaders in the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe, in surfing, leisure and networking activities, in addition to a number of lectures.

The event, to be held on 5th and 6th November, will anticipate the Lisbon Web Summit, the technological mega-conference that will take place in Lisbon from 7 to 10 November. This global initiative expects to bring together more than 50,000 participants from over 150 countries in the Portuguese capital, i.e. more than 20,000 companies, 7,000 CEOs and 2000 journalists from around the world.

Paddy Cosgrave, CEO of Web Summit, is quite enthusiastic about the 2016 Surf Summit, stating that “it will be an amazing experience for all the participants, by joining the best of technology and adventure sports in two days of networking in a world-class place. It is the ideal preparation for the Web Summit itself.”

With surf being the main sport in Ericeira, the speakers and mentors of the event would have to be also of world-class. Andrew Cotton, a famous surfer with several nominations at the Billabong XXL, and Anastasia Ashley, American professional surfer and former female champion in the Pipeline Pro will be among the attendants.

Besides surf and lectures, there will be several other activities available to the participants, such as stand up paddle, yoga in Ribeira D’Ilhas or mountain biking in the Lizandro cliffs. For the toughest, the party will continue into the night with an after party in one of the oldest discos in Portugal, the Ouriço.
