In May, during the commemorations of Municipality Day, an online presentation of “Mafra, a sustainable tourist destination” was held, which symbolically marked the beginning of a wide campaign to promote local assets.
At the same time, the municipality assumed that it intends to be a sustainable tourist destination by signing the letter of commitment for the respective certification by Biosphere – Responsible Tourism.
In a territory where, among other natural and cultural riches, is the Ericeira World Surfing Reserve (the only one in Europe) and Mafra Royal Building (which includes the Palace, the Basilica, the Convent, Cerco Garden and Tapada), inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, this is a fundamental mission.
