At 36, and after having announced that he will withdraw from international competitions, Tiago Pires will be awarded the “Career Award” at the gala of the 50th anniversary of the National Sporting Press Club (CNID), scheduled for the evening of 9th May, at Estufa Fria, in Lisbon.

‘Saca’, the only Portuguese, to date, to reach the World Tour (1st division of world surfing), where he represented our country and Ericeira over seven seasons, is thus recognized for his unique career in national, European and global surf by the national sporting press.

In the ceremony, scheduled to start at 8 pm, the best athletes and journalists of the year will also be awarded. Under the spotlight are Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese Athlete Abroad), Marco Silva (Portuguese Coach Abroad), Telma Monteiro (Female Athlete of the Year) and Miguel Oliveira (Male Athlete of the Year).
