Photography: Maria João Marques
This is a picture of one of the most emblematic places of Mafra, taken from an unusual angle.
Absent from the picture, behind the photographer, there is a suggestion of the most imposing architectural ensemble of Mafra, which includes the Convent, the Basilica and the National Palace.
This is Terreiro D. João V – a meeting point, a place to visit and to learn – in front of the grand monument, showing its vastness and opening up to the eyes of those who view it from ground level.
This photography by Maria João Marques belongs to the collective exhibition “Um Primeiro Olhar”, to open on May 21, at 5pm at Casa de Cultura Jaime Lobo e Silva in Ericeira.
