The 7th edition of the Portuguese Surf Film Festival will take place between July 20 and 29 in Ericeira, which means it will be the longest edition ever of this surf film festival.

In addition to its record duration, another new addition will be the introduction of a category dedicated to movies about Skateboarding, a lifestyle sport that shares a common past with surf, as well as several other elements.

According to Susana Andrade, festival director, “There is a worldwide trend for the inclusion of Skateboarding in surf film festivals. For us, it makes sense also because the great majority of the public attending the festival enjoys and practices this sport. We also see it as another initiative to encourage the production of more and better Portuguese films to be presented in Ericeira.”

In addition to the new Skateboarding category, the festival will maintain previous year’s awards: Best Surf Film, Best Short Film, Best in Sustainability, Best Soundtrack, Best Ericeira, Women in Surf Films, Impactful Story and Audience Award.
