Good music is fueled by creative space, practice, and ultimately by exchange with like-minded people. That is exactly what Casa da Música Francisco Alves Gato is offering this week led by the well-known musician Bruno Pernadas.
Under the motto “Rede em Frequencia” an artist residency takes place from April 13th until the 18th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m each day, excluding the 17th. Professional and semi-professional musicians can create original songs, explore jazz arrangements or other genres and work on their own compositions.
musicians will be encouraged to experiment and share their creations
Bruno Pernadas is considered a prodigy of jazz fusion as well as a virtuoso of contemporary Portuguese music and has already toured in Japan, Spain, France, Mexico, and Brazil. Just recently, this February, he released his fifth album called “unlikely, maybe”. He currently teaches guitar, ear training and combo at the Lisbon Jazz school.
With Pernadas’s supervision, the event in Mafra focuses on collaborative music creation. Musicians will be encouraged to experiment and share their creations.
To participate, they had to provide proof of prior musical training in classical, jazz or pop music, have the ability to read sheet music as well as submit a video of themselves performing a piece.
The results of the musical works created in this artist residency will be presented on April 19 at 6 p.m. The concert at Casa da Música Francisco Alves Gato (in Mafra), featuring Bruno Pernadas and the participant musicians is free of charge and open to the public, subject to availability in order of entrance.
