The fourth edition of Mafra’s International Organ Festival began on Sunday (September 5th) and will comprise nine concerts in seven churches located in the municipality, in order to enhance the respective organ heritage.
This initiative – which took place in the six organs of the Basilica of the National Palace of Mafra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in the historical instruments of the Churches of S. Silvestre do Gradil, Nossa Senhora do Livramento, S. Pedro da Ericeira and Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, as well as the organs of the Churches of Santo André de Mafra and Santo Isidoro – is promoted by the Municipality of Mafra, which has the support of the National Palace of Mafra and Vigararia de Mafra.

The Festival covers several periods and different geographies in the History of Music and is starred by recognized national and foreign organists specialized in historical instruments, presenting a diversified program, in which the organ appears as a solo instrument, in dialogue with other instruments or with the voice.
Admission to the concerts, whose artistic direction belongs to João Vaz, is free, upon collection of tickets at the tourist offices in Ericeira and Mafra, and is subject to the capacity of each space.
