Photography: Pedro Mestre
In the foreground, a shellfish catcher stirs the puddles and rocks in search for shellfish: mussels, barnacles, crabs and other species that hide among tides on this coastal shoreline.
In the background – and in another dimension of this composition created by the photographer Pedro Mestre – a surfer slides on a promising wave.
It is also this balance and symbiosis between land and sea (in a natural and cultural ecosystem so rich and fragile and worthy of protection from numerous threats) that shapes Ericeira’s World Surfing Reserve.
