June is the month of celebrations and festivities for the Popular Saints. In Ericeira they will take place in Praça da República (known as “Jogo da Bola”) and near São Pedro Church. There will be music, parades, street markets and, of course, football – the UEFA Euro 2016 is under way – everything accompanied by traditional food and drinks.
There will be street markets and the traditional roasted sardines at “Jogo da Bola” on June 17, 18 and 19, 24, 25 e 26.
On June 18, roasted pork will be served close to the parish church, and you may watch the game Portugal – Austria, as from 7.30 pm at São Sebastião esplanade.
The grand finale, on the last weekend of June, will have the popular marches of Ericeira, Encarnação and Malveira-Alcainça parading through the streets.
