Recently, the website Newmen, an online publication dedicated to modern men (covering topics such as society, lifestyle, and culture), published an article titled “The Most Searched Portuguese Cities in Portugal.” In this list, Ericeira [editor’s note: which is a village, not a city] appears in the first place, with 60.510 monthly searches.

The main point of this piece is to showcase a set of places with good gastronomy, culture, and “hidden gems” for those who want to escape the large urban agglomerations and enjoy the more chilled atmosphere of other locations with fewer than 20.000 inhabitants.

Ericeira has 60.500 monthly searches on search engines

According to the website, Ericeira “is the most sought-after destination this year! Famous for being a surfer’s paradise, it offers much more beyond the waves. Picturesque cobblestone streets wind through the old town, showcasing traditional Portuguese architecture.

A 17th-century fort guards the fishing harbor, telling stories of the village’s maritime past where the sea is bluer. Fresh seafood dominates the local cuisine, and cozy seaside cafés provide the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the endless sea. It stands out significantly from the second place with 60.500 monthly searches on search engines.”

The list was originally created by Holidu.pt, a vacation home booking portal. Ericeira is not the only village from the municipality in the top 10: Mafra appears in the eighth position, with 33.100 monthly searches.

In the top five places on the list, which comprises more than 100 cities or regions, Sesimbra is in second place with 49.800 monthly searches, followed by Nazaré with 49.640, Peniche with 49.600 and Caldas da Rainha with 49.500 monthly searches.

You can read the original article on the Newmen website and the complete list on the Holidu website.
