After the evocation of ‘Zé Mosca’, the Ericeira Parish Council proceeded with the tribute to another charismatic figure in the village.

This time, a memorial to António Magalhães Duarte, better known as “O Gaivota” [“The Seagull”, in Portuguese], who lived in Rua de Baixo, was inaugurated.

As it could not be otherwise, on this evocative plaque ‘Gaivota’ appears side by side with his faithful ‘Tubarão’ (=Shark), a little dog that accompanied him everywhere, namely in the daily transport of fuel to supply the fishing boats in the harbour.

The completion of the restoration of the tank located on the northern ramp of the Ericeira Fishing Port (and the aforementioned inauguration of the memorial) took place at the end of September.
