Ericeira was elected as the fifth most valuable touristic destination in Portugal by the hotel search engine Trivago.

The company released its annual ranking of the most valuable destinations in the world, regarding the price/quality comparison, based on the prices of 700.000 hotel units. Globally, Ericeira is ranked in the top 100 – in 95th place – best touristic destinations in the World. The remaining portuguese regions in the ranking are Peneda-Gerês (ranked 9th), Peniche (59th), Braga (69th), Figueira da Foz (73rd) and Vila Nova de Milfontes (86th).

Portugal is the fifth country in the world with the most search queries, in a list lead by China. Aït-Ben-Haddou, fortress town in the heart of Morocco and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the destination ranked in the first place in this year’s ranking. Mostar (Bosnia) and Chora (Ios greek island) follow it in the second and third places.

The quality-price ranking by Trivago is drawn from an algorithm which combines the Hotel Price Index (tHPI) by doubles room with the accomodations’ reputation, given by the 82 million-plus user opinions in over 200 booking websites available at Trivago.
