Recently, OutandBeyond (a site dedicated to discovering ways to earn and save money, exploring different lifestyles, regardless of location) elected Ericeira as the 4th best Portuguese destination for digital nomads.

In 2019, the InterNations Expat Insider report ranked Portugal as the best country for foreigners living outside their home country to choose as their home. While carrying out the research, factors such as leisure options, health and well-being, safety and security, happiness, travel and transportation and digital life were taken into account.

Portugal even has a digital village dedicated to these young international professionals, Digital Nomads, in Madeira.

This land of fishermen was pointed out by Aisha Preece – founder of the blog OutandBeyond – as one of the top recommended destinations for digital nomads, especially “if the ocean views bring you peace, comfort and focus”.

Although Ericeira is popularly known as the only World Surfing Reserve in Europe, the town is also becoming, every day, a very attractive destination for those who like to travel and take advantage of the fact that they can work remotely to get to know different parts of the world.

As in other destinations around Portugal, such as Lagos, Lisbon and Porto – which hold the top positions in the ranking – the village where the sea is bluer has seen an increase in the number of coliving and coworking spaces for digital nomads.

The fact that Ericeira is a short distance from Lisbon also makes it easy to go anywhere, which allows you to travel quickly when you want to change destination.
