It was recently that the National Association of Dairy Industry (ANIL) held the Award Ceremony for the contest Queijos de Portugal (Cheeses of Portugal), at the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation – in Porto –, and five cheeses from the Municipality of Mafra were distinguished, in different categories, as the best in Portugal:
- Fresh Goat Cheese: Lactinovo;
- Cow curd: Requeijoeste;
- Sheep cheese (extra cure): Serramonte – Santiago cheeses;
- Mixed cheese (extra cure): Três Igrejas – Queijos Santiago;
- New flavors: Three Churches Pimenta da Terra – Santiago Cheeses.
the event aims to promote and encourage the development of the cheese industry
After this 12th edition, the Municipality of Mafra congratulated the companies Lactinovo, Requeijoeste and Queijos Santiago for their success, recognizing their levels of quality, innovation and performance.
The competition organized by the National Association of Dairy Industry Companies had the involvement of 54 companies, from all of country, including Madeira and the Azores, in a total of 204 cheeses, in the 23 categories of the competition.
The competition took place under a “blind test” regime, with 20 judges representing the cheese sector, control and certification bodies, catering and gastronomy, distribution, representatives of companies in the industrial sector, educational institutions and the media.
