This year Mafra commemorates the tercentenary of the National Palace, with a celebration that includes theatre, music, street shows, guided tours and many other surprises. In May, “A Luz no Sagrado: a primeira pedra” (The Light in the Sacred: the first stone) lived up to its name, paying tribute to the construction of the baroque monument with a colourful multimedia show and lots of entertainment.
This week we share a video that combines several parts of two magical nights when the story of the Royal Building was told, from the preparatory moments to the ritual consecration of the first stone.
A show that gathered many spectators on the outside of the Palace, surrounded by the shades that coloured the enormous walls and the thrill of the plays that tell a story older than 300 years.
