Mafra’s Municipal Stadium is set to become the heart of Portuguese American football on May 16, as the Cascais Crusaders and the Lisboa Devils meet in the season’s final.
American football is gaining more and more ground in Portugal with the Maleo Bowl marking an emerging highlight on the calendar. Nishel Rajani, CEO of naming sponsor Maleo says: “Through our involvement, we aim to enhance and give visibility to the sport in Portugal, contributing to its growth and bringing it closer to new audiences through a larger-scale and more prominent event.”

At 5 pm the teams will meet face to face for a competitive and entertaining game. The Maleo Bowl will be a milestone in the development of American football in the country, as both participation and the fan base continue to grow steadily.
Organized by the Portuguese American Football Federation, the event also receives support from international partners, including the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon, FLAD – the Luso-American Development Foundation – and AmCham, the American Chamber of Commerce in Portugal.
The game that will decide the winner of Portugal’s most important American football competition is admission free and open to public.
