Europe’s Blue Flag Association has awarded three Mafra’s region beaches with the International Participatory Certificates of the Blue Flag Program: Foz do Lizandro (photo above), Baleia (or Sul) and São Lourenço. The distinction is given to beaches that have been contemplated with the Blue Flag for at least five years in a row or multiples of this number.
Foz do Lizandro and Baleia completed five years this year with the Blue Flag. São Lourenço has this distinction since 15 years ago.
The Blue Flag program is based in a set of environmental, security, comfort and informations criteria. It’s been developed by the environmental non-Governmental, non-lucrative organisation ABAE, which promotes the education for a sustainable development and the management and recognition of good environmental practices.
