The Municipality of Mafra has recently made the Municipal Tourism Observatory available on its website.

This is a consultation tool for all tourism operators and stakeholders in the sector, which allows the analysis and monitoring of the main statistical indicators of the tourism economy, such as the number of overnight stays, stays duration and the values of tourist consumption.

it is possible to monitor indicators related to Society and Culture, Climate Change and Governance and Economy

The Tourism Observatory is also aimed at monitoring indicators related to three areas: Society and Culture, Climate Change and, also, Governance and Economy.

In addition to the main indicators, studies and reports will also be published to support decision-making by tourism operators, namely on the main outbound markets for foreign tourists, revealing data on the size and structure of the outbound market, the market for Portugal and its respective positioning competition, as well as their economic, political and social situation.

Through this tool, full knowledge of social and economic dynamics will allow the Municipality to adapt its strategies in the area of tourism. Also for external agents, such as tourism operators who choose Mafra to develop their professional activities, the Observatory (which is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations) will be an essential instrument.
