Jahcoustix, Nubai Soundsystem, Tekilla with Agir, Praga and Sam the Kid and Forward Sound are the names to perform in Sumol Summer Fest’s Welcome Party on June 26 at Ericeira Camping. The alignment for the village’s Summer festival is now officially closed, announced the organisation.
The German reggae musician Jahcoustix isn’t unknown of the Portuguese audience. The artist from Boon, North Westfalia, did a tour in the country last year after releasing his latest album, “Frequency”. He performed in Lisboa, Almada, Sines, Loulé, Porto, Madeira and Coimbra.
Nubai Soundsystem is a reggae, ragga and dancehall collective that has been in the Portuguese soundsystem’s scene spotlights for the last 10 years. Two of the three selectas – Miguel Oliveira aka “Gigi” e Nuno Cardoso, joined by Tiago Campos – live in Ericeira and frequently play in the village’s clubs and discos.
Tekilla is a rapper from Lisboa and he’s been getting bigger since releasing his latest album, “Erro Perfeito”, last Summer. The long play has collaborations with Sam the Kid and SP, prominent rappers and musicians in Portugal. Tekilla invited for Sumol Summer Fest Agir (rap/reggae), Praga (rap) and Sam the Kid.
Forward Sound are selectas Egas, Muska and Alexis Williams and MC Mendes and they officially close the festival’s alignment, which this year brings new sounds such as hip-hop and indie to introduce a wider variety to its usual reggae aura.
Therefore, with the closed alignment, Dillaz, Bomba Estéreo, Ky-Mani Marley, Protoje and John Butler Trio play on June, 27; DJ Slimcutz, Anthony B, Lutan Fyah, Perfect Giddimani, D8, Cidade Negra and Angus & Julia Stone go on stage on June, 28.
The festival’s organisers have also announced a live skate demo at the venue’s skatepark, putting sports again up front of the event, and the DJ sets by Dogz United and Computer Says No!. Still missing are the two bands chosen by a contest promoted by Mega Hits radio in Portugal.
The tickets are on sale at the prices of 65€ (2-days ticket, with camping), 50€ (2 days, without camping) and 40€ (1-day ticket)
Sumol Summer Fest is Ericeira’s current main music event, having won the award for best Medium-Sized Festival granted by the Portugal Festival Awards.
