Ericeira through the lives and works of four great personalities

On October 18, Ericeira will host a cultural journey through its own history. The Municipal Auditorium of Santa Marta will receive the 15th Joint Cultural Session of ICEA (Institute of European and Atlantic Culture) and SGL – Lisbon Geographical Society – this time entitled “The Town of Ericeira through the voice of Gabriel Pereira, Patrocínio Ribeiro, Jaime Lobo e Silva and António Bento Franco.”

The initiative, which runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., is free to attend and promises to reveal the town through the words and works of four prominent figures linked to the region.

The session will begin with an official opening by José Viegas Freitas, president of ICEA, followed by a presentation by Pedro Crisóstomo on Patrocínio Ribeiro, Jaime Lobo e Silva, and António Bento Franco.

At 4:30 p.m., João Abel da Fonseca, director of the SGL Library and president of the ICEA Higher Council, will present “Vila da Ericeira, by Gabriel Pereira (1903),” offering a unique perspective of the town at the beginning of the 20th century.

The session will close with Luís Aires-Barros, president of SGL, who will deliver the official closing remarks. The discussion will be moderated by José Constantino Costa.

This session is recognized as a Short-Term Training Activity (3 hours) for all teaching groups and educational levels.
