Google released on Monday the most searched keywords in Portugal during this year, and Ericeira leads the category of destinations, followed by Braga and Angola. This distinction confirms the strong position that our town has assumed nationally, boosted not only by tourism and surfing but as well by its culture, landscapes and gastronomy.
The annual ‘Zeitgeist’ list by Google has 12 different themed listings – searche engines, athletes, music, celebrities, bands/songs, TV shows, movies, sports clubs, destinations, food and beverages, fashion brands and apps – and covers the most searched words of the year in Portugal and internationally.
At the remaining categories, the national results are as follows:
Celebrities – the pornographic actress Erica Fontes (portuguese) was the most searched in the web, ahead of the american TV star Kim Kardashian and the football player Cristiano Ronalo.
TV Shows – the reality show by TVI “Casa dos Segredos” was the most searched one, followed by Big Brothers and the soap opera Dancing Days.
Food and beverages – the chocolate cake lead the list, ahead of yogurt cake and snacks.
Fashion – the brands Zara, Bershka and La Redoute were the three most searched.
Sports clubs – Benfica led the searches , followed by Sporting and Porto.
Search engines – Ask, followed by Zero Zero and Outlook.
Athletes – The brazilian surfer Maya Gabeira came out on top, followed by the football player Bruma and the south african sprinter Oscar Pistorius.
Music – Harlem Shake, Gangnam Style and I Love It were the most searched.
Bands/music – One Direction, Justin Bieber and Rihanna were the top three of this list.
Movies – highlight to Fast & Furious 6, followed by Spring Breakers and Iron Man 3.
Apps – Google Maps led the list, followed by Google Translate and We Transfer.
