On Sunday, September 12th, the open water swimming event “A Milha da Ericeira” (“The Ericeira Mile”) – promoted by the Municipality of Mafra – will take place at Praia dos Pescadores.
As in previous editions, the event features three different races: at 10 a.m. the Half-Mile Race; at 11 a.m. the One-Mile Race, and at 12 p.m. the Mini-Mile — the latter is exclusively for students of the Municipal Pool’s Swimming School.

To participate, it is mandatory to know how to swim, wear a silicone swim cap, and a wetsuit. Registrations opened on August 1st and no sign-ups will be accepted on the day of the event. Participants may only register for one race.
Registrations for the Mini-Mile will be handled exclusively by the Swimming School’s instructors. The event is supported by the Maritime Rescue Institute, the Ericeira Volunteer Firefighters, the Portuguese Navy, and Docapesca.
Race distances may be adjusted depending on sea conditions.
