In springtime, the forest is adorned with new colors, light, and textures. To capture this through the lens, Tapada Nacional de Mafra is offering a photography workshop on May 9.

The workshop, led by photographer Jorge Bodroghy Leite, is designed to sharpen participants’ photographic eye and deepen their understanding of the connection between technique, artistic intuition, and nature.

capture the essence of nature

As part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Tapada Nacional de Mafra offers the perfect setting for learning to capture the essence of nature.

The workshop for amateur photographers aged 13 and older with basic photography skills provides both theoretical and practical knowledge, with Spring as the central theme. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., concepts such as natural light, image composition and color will be explored through guided exercises and experimentation.

Jorge Bodroghy Leite is a photographer and photography instructor at USEMA, in Mafra. He has worked in journalistic, commercial and volunteer photography. In 2024, his work was part of the exhibition “Conservação, Biodiversidade e História”, held as part of the 280th anniversary of the Tapada Nacional de Mafra. One of his photos has also recently been selected for the exhibition “Colors and Textures of the Tapada Nacional de Mafra,” which is currently on display in Mafra.

To participate, interested individuals must bring their own photography equipment and purchase a ticket through the Tapada Nacional de Mafra’s usual sales channels, either in-store or online. The price is 55 euros and includes a voucher for free admission to the Forest Hike or Forest Run experience, valid for six months. Spots are limited to 20 participants.
