In a world of constant connectivity and being chronically online, Colectivo A TRIBO produced a new theatre play to shift attention to presence, physicality, and real human connection.

At the Beatriz Costa Municipal Auditorium, in Mafra, on June 13 and 14 at 9:30 p.m., the performance invites audiences to reconnect with what is immediate and physical: moving the body, touching, dancing, feeling, being present.

13 hours online per day

In “Ligar/Desligar” (Connect/Disconnect) the teenage group of the collective reflects on the use of screens, social media and the permanent flow of information, exploring the balance between the online and offline worlds.

Daniela Simões, founder of the collective, says: “We researched this among the teenagers in the group and the person who spent the most time online in a single day had been connected for thirteen hours. That made us think about how much time we spend disconnected from ourselves, from other people, and from real face-to-face communication.”

On stage, this translates into 14 young people between the ages of 13 and 18 proposing a constantly shifting puzzle through movement and words. The production is an ode to the present, real life and the joy of a body that feels.
