On Sunday, September 12th, the open water swimming event \u201cA Milha da Ericeira\u201d (\u201cThe Ericeira Mile\u201d) – promoted by the Municipality of Mafra – will take place at Praia dos Pescadores.<\/p>\n

As in previous editions, the event features three different races: at 10 a.m. the Half-Mile Race; at 11 a.m. the One-Mile Race, and at 12 p.m. the Mini-Mile \u2014 the latter is exclusively for students of the Municipal Pool\u2019s Swimming School.<\/p>\n

To participate, it is mandatory to know how to swim, wear a silicone swim cap, and a wetsuit. Registrations opened on August 1st and no sign-ups will be accepted on the day of the event. Participants may only register for one race.<\/p>\n

Registrations for the Mini-Mile will be handled exclusively by the Swimming School\u2019s instructors. The event is supported by the Maritime Rescue Institute, the Ericeira Volunteer Firefighters, the Portuguese Navy, and Docapesca.<\/p>\n

Race distances may be adjusted depending on sea conditions.<\/p>\n
