{"id":58115,"date":"2024-05-02T00:40:37","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T23:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/?p=58115\/"},"modified":"2024-05-02T00:39:48","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T23:39:48","slug":"lifeguards-are-already-patrolling-mafras-municipality-beaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/en\/lifeguards-are-already-patrolling-mafras-municipality-beaches\/","title":{"rendered":"Lifeguards are already patrolling Mafra&#8217;s municipality beaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photography:<\/strong> RR<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since April 20th, on weekends and holidays, lifeguards have been on duty to ensure the safety of beachgoers in the beaches of Mafra&#8217;s municipality.<\/p>\n<p>This procedure will continue, as a &#8220;prelude&#8221; to the bathing season, which begins on June 14th, with daily surveillance until September 15th &#8211; from this date until October 31st the current procedure will be resumed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>surveillance will be carried out on the beaches of Foz do Lizandro, Sul, Algodio, Ribeira d&#8217;Ilhas, S\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, Calada, Coxos and Pescadores<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the municipality, &#8220;the coastal area of the Municipality of Mafra assumes a growing strategic importance in environmental, economic, social, cultural and recreational terms, and it is noted that, in recent years, the beaches of the municipality have seen a high influx of bathers throughout the year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It was during the month of April that a meeting of the municipal executive was held to deliberate on the granting of financial support to ERANS &#8211; Ericeira Rescue Association.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/praia_do_sul_-_ericeira-e1559906572255.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33734 colorbox-58115\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ericeiramag.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/praia_do_sul_-_ericeira-e1559906572255.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1050\" height=\"703\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A total amount of 37,400 euros is intended to cover the costs related to lifeguards, aiming to reinforce the surveillance and safety of the beaches before, during and after the 2024 Bathing Season.<\/p>\n<p>According to information gathered by Jornal de Mafra, within the expenses related to beach safety during the bathing season, 300 euros per month will be distributed per lifeguard, divided among 8 beaches in the municipality (Foz do Lizandro River and Sea, Sul, Algodio, Ribeira d&#8217;Ihas, S\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, Calada, Coxos and Pescadores) and also the municipal swimming pool of Parque Desportivo (Sports Park), resulting in a total of 20,700 euros.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>there will also be a service composed of two lifeguards, circulating in a vehicle during holidays and weekends<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the remaining beaches of the municipality, a service composed of two lifeguards will be available, operating a vehicle during the day. This service, budgeted at 1,950 euros per month per lifeguard, will total an investment of 11,700 euros.<\/p>\n<p>For support outside the Bathing Season 2024, a subsidy of 65 euros per day per lifeguard (in pairs), in addition to assistance in providing equipment, will be provided.
