Works on the National Music Museum in the National Palace of Mafra have recently started, using funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan \u2013 RRP \u2013, in a project that includes the creation of the National Sound Archive.<\/p>\n

With more than 90 bells, the two carillons of the Palace commissioned by King John V of Portugal in the 18th century will also undergo a maintenance process.<\/p>\n

Mafra Palace provides the ideal space to house the new National Music Museum<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The investment, totaling 18 million euros, also includes the restoration of the basilica and the library, both important components of the Palace’s cultural heritage, as well as the rehabilitation of the Palace’s exterior facades.<\/p>\n

The National Palace of Mafra, with more than 1.800 meters of empty rooms, provides the ideal space to house the new National Music Museum. Currently, this museum is located in a temporary space in the metro station of Alto dos Moinhos, in Lisbon.<\/p>\n

With the aim of optimizing the process and guaranteeing that resources are used efficiently, the Ministry of Culture assumed the direct transfer of funds to the Mafra municipality, which took on the responsibility of conducting the tender for the selection of the company that will carry out and closely monitor all stages of the work.<\/p>\n

The new National Music Museum in Mafra will represent a significant milestone for Portuguese culture. In addition to providing an adequate space to house a rich collection of musical pieces and historical instruments, it will become a reference centre for national and international music, attracting tourists and music lovers alike from all over the world.<\/p>\n

The municipality of Mafra is the second municipality in the country with the most funds allocated by the RRP in the heritage area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
